Title: can you leave computer turned on and connected to

for some reason myy computer takes forever to log on to internet.  is it ok to leave computer turned on and logged on to internet at all times.  after awhile the computer goes to sleep.  will this hurt the computer to be left on

Do you have a dialup connection? your provider may cut you off.

Do you have cable//dsl? That does not require any kind of wait to connect.  It is always on.

The longer your computer is connected to the internet the longer a hacker has to get into it. The FBI advise that you should never leave your computer running when you are not using it.

That is the official advice.

Also electricity is not free.
