Title: Waiting on ... in Firefox
Post by: Mac29 on August 08, 2013, 12:53:28 PM
Short and sweet, I can surf ok but frequently will get messages in the lower left hand corner of Firefox (ver 22) about waiting for a site(s): PF hub, google-analytics, ip addresses, cd.doubleverify.com, a4.live.liverail, pagefair, vac.advertising, r.openx.net, flash.quantserve, lots of them. See the same thing in IE.

I use Sandboxie (w/Firefox) and have not had any issues since using it. But also still have my Avast. Occasionally run Avast scans. Never finds anything. I could download Malwarebytes but I don't trust cnet, softpedia and other sites any longer. Anyone know an absolutely clean site that I can get MWbytes from?

Importantly, I don't think it's a virus, I think it's something like cookies. It's not that I don't get to my destination, but I know the browser is exchanging info w/these sites and I don't know how to stop that so as to surf faster. Doesn't happen all the time.

I'd like to know what causes this and how I can speed up FF getting to my destination. It's highly probable I don't have a virus. Could someone explain what these messages are? Something w/ proxies?

Often pages contain items served up from other sites; Firefox is merely reporting that.

Thank you. I was running across cookies, proxies, viruses...
