Title: Win 7 upadtes fais with 129 items

I also hive windows 7 32 bit home on this Dell Inspiration E1705 notebook.  This morning I used it for awhile and went to shut it down. It said there were 129 updates needed, OK. I let it be.  Later rebooted and it did some more. Later rebooted and it said the updates failed. No reason given.
Now it rems to woke alright.
Is this strange? Normal? What shall I do?

129 updates are a lot, I am guessing that its been a while since this was last updated or a somewhat recent install in which all updates were never completed. As far as windows 7 goes, I did have a problem with my wifes prior system not wanting to take SP1. Is this laptop running on SP0 or SP1? I fought with it for a few hours and gave up and backed up all data and then installed a clean install to it which fixed the issue as for even the earliest restore point had whatever the corruption was to cause SP1 to crash.
