Title: Blue Screen Of Death Errors..Need Help!!
Post by: parththakkar19 on November 27, 2013, 02:58:38 AM
Hello Everyone,

I have been using windows xp since i began using computer as a child. Being the only favorite operating system i never moved on to anything else.  But recently i have been having issues with Xp as i keep getting blue screen of death. Having read several support threads at Microsoft forum i still haven't found a solution to the error. Am listing all the details from the last mini-dump and crash report/ data that i have.

Any help on the issue will be appreciated.

1) Download BlueScreenView:
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html
unzip downloaded file and double click on BlueScreenView.exe to run the program.
when scanning is done, go to EDIT - Select All
Go to FILE - SAVE Selected Items, and save the report as BSOD.txt
Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all of the content, and paste it into your next reply

2) Have you recently updated any drivers?

3) Please open Device Manager - are there any yellow or red symbols?

4) Do you get these bsod's at random or when you are performing a specific task or running a specific program?

Hi Allan,

First of all thanks for your reply.

Well the above data provided was from Blue screen view itself which you have suggested. Though i did i once again and the below data is done how you recommended.

No Drivers have been updated.

Though i have had similar crashes earlier too. I have data of that too. Let me know if posting that would be helpful to find the error.

Yes i get these crashes randomly. Not on running a specific program.

Crash Data :-

Thanks Again.

Okay thanks. I asked you to repost because only the first entry in each report is complete. I'll go ahead and delete the ones you just posted just to shorten the length of this thread.

Are there any yellow or red symbols in Device Manager?

And when you say you had similar crashes, were they the same error code as above?

Well there are a couple of yellow symbols in device manager. They are under Modem Section where Softv92 Data fax modem # 3 to #32 . Thats where all the yellow symbols are.

Crash Data below from earlier crashes that have occurred. One common driver that i have observed which is part of the crash is ntoskrnl.exe

Okay, the fact that the bsod's occur only intermittently is going to make it more difficult to troubleshoot, but let's give it a go.

1) Please check for and install the following if they are available: update for your bios, chipset driver, modem driver, and display adapter driver. If you are running a desktop system, go to the websites of the hardware manufacturers for the updates. If you are running a laptop, get the drivers ONLY from the website of your laptop manufacturer.

2) Download and run Autoruns (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx)). Click on the LOGON tab. Then click on the "save as" icon at the top and save the report in TXT (text) format. Then cut and paste that report in your next post.

Finished Checking Bios, chipset driver, modem and display adapters..they are all up to date at the moment.

As you had asked for the autoruns data. You can find it below.

Sorry, that's not what I asked for and I've deleted it for the sake of brevity in this thread. I want the LOGON tab, not the Explorer Tab. Thank you.

My apologies on sending in the wrong data. But even when i try to just take the data from the logon tab it gives me data of the entire thing on the .txt

So here am attaching a screenshot of the logon tab. I hope that helps.

Uncheck the "Update USB" item and reboot. Let's see what happens.

Would you want me to restart the computer and check if it happens again or not.

Yes, that's what "reboot" means ;)

No need to post pictures of your display. I'd like to do a few things. First, if you have anything plugged into a usb port please unplug it.

1) To check the ram, download memtest (http://memtest.org/ (http://memtest.org/)). Burn it to a cd using a dedicated .iso burning utility (http://www.petri.co.il/how_to_write_iso_files_to_cd.htm (http://www.petri.co.il/how_to_write_iso_files_to_cd.htm)), make sure the cd drive is at the top of the boot order in bios, then boot to the newly created cd and run the utility. Let the test run for several hours. If you see any errors, that's the problem. If you don't, proceed to the next step

2) To run checkdisk, open a command prompt window and type: chkdsk /r  (then press ENTER). You'll be told the disk is in use and asked if you want to run checkdisk on the next boot. Say yes, exit the command prompt window, and reboot.

If you get another blue screen error after doing the above, we will try a selective startup.
