Title: Monitor on-off switch not working
Post by: pantherman on January 18, 2014, 04:37:08 AM
My monitor is a LG Flatron E2211S-BN
The on/off switch seems stuck and it will not turn on.  Any suggestions please?
Were it a bike I would spray with contact cleaner or GT85 but don't want to risk messing anything up by doing that.
I have never tried changing a switch on a monitor, is it straightforward?
Willing to try any suggestion as can't afford a new one yet.  :-[

PS Had it 1yr 8months so out or warranty I guess? I have contacted LG but no reply yet.

Open the LG monitor's front border panel (if you are able to). Put 1-2 Drops of the GT85 in the button. Put back the panel.
The button is basically 'micro-button'.

Like this.

Otherwise, just change it with a new one.

In the bracket, the power button is soldered on a thin strip which is plugged into the LCD circuit with a ribbon like cable. The strip is usually screw fitted on the LCD's bracket itself. Be very careful while removing the bracket, otherwise the ribbon cable may break and there will be another problem to tackle.

Thanks, that did help. but plastic lever on button that reaches switch is broken. Would not stick with super glue, so have switched monitor permanently on except when unplugged.
