Hello,
I'm unable to run applications for very long without my computer getting very hot, and my computer fan is always on even when nothing is running.
I tried to fix the issue by checking which applications were taking a lot of memory in task manager, and i saw system idle processes at 99% usage. I searched up many threads on the internet about the issue, but have been told that system idle processes is supposed to be using high amounts of CPU and that nothing is wrong. Well something was definitely wrong as many games that i could easily run before came with a lot of sudden lag, and all my drivers as well as java were updated.
So I went into  Performance > Resource Monitor in my task manager and I found out that scvhost had been spiking memory usage more than any other process. I looked more into it and apparently scvhost is prone to viral infections from certain malware that mimic its name,  but have different directories. I look at the directories for each of the all 8 scvhost processes that were running and they all led to system32, but a virus called the conficker worm is supposed to be able to rewrite a .dll file in the original scvhost directory and infect your computer from there. Is it possible that I have the conficker worm and if not how do i fix these frustrating issues? I've also run a full system scan from avg and have found nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello and welcome to Computer Hope Forum. My name is Dave. I will be helping you out with your particular problem on your computer.

If you can't access the internet with your infected computer you will have to download and transfer any programs to the computer you're using now and transfer them to the infected computer with a CD-RW or a USB storage device. I prefer a CD because a storage device can get infected. If you use a storage device hold the shift key down while inserting the USB storage device for about 10 secs. You will also have to transfer the logs you receive back to the good computer using the same method until we can get the computer back on-line.
