Title: Which CD burning software is default on my computer?
Post by: lectrocrew on July 23, 2014, 12:47:16 AM
I have a medical MRI file on CD (file system CDFS) that has CD software already included on the disc (CD Viewer). Apparently it runs the software from the disc rather than installing it on my computer since I can't find CD Viewer in the All Programs list, nor on the Add/Remove Programs list. I need to make an exact copy of this disc. How do I do it? OS is Win 7 Hm Prem x-64. I don't know what software I have installed to do this if any. How can I find out which software to use or whether I need to download software?
Thanks in advance!
Mike

I would say the easiest way to do this is to use a neat, tiny program called LC ISO Creator.  Unfortunately it seems the authors' website no longer exists and I'm struggling to find a legitimate download of it.
You could as an alternative use IMGBurn - http://www.imgburn.com/ - select "create image from disc" and that'll save an ISO file to your hard drive, this can then be burned to another disc as an image to create an exact copy.

Hope this helps.

I don't feel comfortable downloading the file from this website, but it is linked from the imgburn website (1st mirror)

That doesn't look great does it?  I do hate when their provided mirrors look sketchy as anything...
Try the direct download from Imgburn - http://download.imgburn.com/SetupImgBurn_2.5.8.0.exe

Edit: ah, I see it now, some versions of Imgburn do include some optional extra software, it can be unticked during the install.
