Can anyone out there please help me?

I'm having a real problem with my computer shutting down into standby mode, then not letting me get back in

The power on the base unit is on, but you can't hear any of the drives working and my monitor stops in standby mode.

To switch off the Standby mode:

In Control Panel, click on Power Options and in the Standby drop down box select never
