A friend upgraded his computer from WIN7 to Win 10 and now the computer won't boot up.
The computer is a Packard Bell, intel (r) core (tm) i3 cpu with 4096 mb of memory.
Ive tried using the recovery disc but it always freezes on the 2nd disc between 88% and 90% then ejects the disc with an error message.

I didnt see the checkbox as solved.... I see 0 and assume its still open for discussion. I generally logon and look for 0's and then 1's to check to see where they are at, and then look for others with multiple replies that might need assistance although usually those with 2 or more replies are generally well taken care of by other specialists here. :)

Right BC. I saw the lone post from Dave (with one question in it, which I certainly agree is the right question to ask), and the OP had marked it as solved with the green checkmark, I assumed after Dave's question. I meant it as humorous sarcasm.
I see what's happening now. One or more members saw that it was solved before Dave's question, then I come along and post the reply which I did. I see from that perspective how it could come across as very sarcastic, and I apologize for that.
What are the 0's and 1's which Dave is referring to, and how does one tell at which point in time an OP marks a topic as solved?

Where can i get a Magna-Broom 3000 ? ?
This was a broom I made at my last job that my boss got a kick out of. I worked on lots of computer equipment in a grey textured carpet IT office that was like 10 ft by 20ft with a 8ft x 6ft parts closet and common computer case screws etc would fall and good luck finding them on the carpet. I had a tray full of random screws etc and so I would just grab another to complete the job.
Later I would take my broom that had very strong hard drive magnets duck taped to the bottom of the boom and sweep the floor and the screws from like 5 inches away would fly over to the super strong magnets. I then could pick the screws etc off of the duck tapes magnets and add them back to my tray. My boss saw this and said what is that and I joked and said its the Magna-Broom 3000 and he had a good laugh at that. I had to store this magna-broom in a corner away from floppies and drives etc. Added it to my profile here quite a ways ago as a joke although fact of being the inventor of this broom. :P

0's and 1's are referring to how many responses the post got. I look for those who havent gotten help yet and focus on those first to minimize the wait people have for help. 1's are those that either the original poster added info or someone else posted a response that is usually to gain more info if not already solved. Green Check Marks are seen for solved posts.

stew2652 ... sarcasm is kind of dry for here. The problem with it here is that you never know how the person at the other end is going to take it. It could be nothing or it could be hurtful to that individual. I personally didnt take it as hurtful, and at 39 years old just figured it was someone young trying to be funny and unprofessional. We have people of all ages here and I just blew it off and moved on. I've seen worse posts. Welcome to CH and in the future its probably best to leave out any sarcasm and try to be more professional. We do joke around here cleanly, but not really in the manner that could make someone feel bad. Hopefully your not feeling like I am scolding you, just stating that in the future more professionalism among members would be nice as for you probably wouldnt want sarcasm in return. Thx for apology :)
