This is interesting $7 a month for corporate use per workstation. Stupidly costly when Windows 7 is free until end of use.
What better way to make businesses want to remain with Windows 7 and save $84 a year per workstation!

Probably a Cheaper TCO for many businesses. Subscription ensures support, rather than deadline EOL dates.

Another typical case of news outlets misreporting what Microsoft is doing to get traffic... They are reporting it as though people and businesses will suddenly need to start paying to use their current copies of Windows 10, this is simply not the case
Like Office 365 this isn't going to be the only way they can use Windows, they can still buy it outright and use it forever if they want, this just gives businesses another option. I find that at least for Office 365 the subscription model works very well - Managing large numbers of retail boxed copies of Office is a complete pain and volume licencing is both expensive and complicated for small businesses.
Shocking to see places like Forbes pushing nonsense like this, it's what I'd expect from some random small tech blog, not a major news outlet!

I also myself thought forbes was a credible source of info, but I guess they rushed this one out.
What i found strange was that I didnt see anything official on google search from Microsoft, yet everyone is rushing out with these articles.

It's likely the powers to be at MS are using Forbes to float a few trial balloons to get a read on corporate sentiment....

Well The Forbes Article is actually More like a Blog Post. Gordon Kelly has previously written similar "Articles", and is well known for writing clickbait titles which poorly represent the facts.
Not to say folks on the "other side" are peachy either. Both sides seem way to invested in their material. Paul Thurott, another supposedly "professional" writer, lambasted Gordon on Twitter for this post- calling him, well, an *censored* and saying he can burn in *censored*, as well as suggesting that he fornicate himself, though not in so many words, all over some inaccurate information about an Operating System.
