Title: Computer showing wrong time
Post by: Mikcor on November 01, 2016, 12:38:53 PM
Hi guys,
My PC, running windows 10, is showing time as 9hrs 50 behind what it should be showing. Ok, yesterday but has been wrong all day.

Any ideas why please?. And how to correct it, of course.

Does your PC have a CMOS battery?

If the CMOS battery is failing the computer cannot keep the correct time or date on the computer after it has been turned off. For example, after turning your computer on you may notice the time as been set to 12:00 PM and the date is set back to January 1, 1990, if the CMOS battery has failed.

Otherwise, your PC automatically resets the time when on the Internet. But you have to have already set the correct time zone.

Note: Windows 10 automatically adjusts your date and time for you and only allows you to adjust the time if you disable this feature. If the wrong date and time is being set, you may need to change your time zone, or if you want to increase or decrease the time for other reasons, follow the steps below.

Hi Geek,
I do not know if my PC has a CMOS battery, Patio has suggested changing it but the date on the computer is correct so I will wait  a day to see if it updates before looking at the CMOS issue. The times zone settings are correct.

Thanks for the quick response from both of you.

Note...if the BIOS time is correct it's NOT the CMOS battery...it's Windows...

Solved the problem, it's all good now. Thanks.

Windoze time is allus ok,  when I boot ubuntu, time allus goes to 5:04 am. (sometimes, the previous day) reset time, next time I boot to Win, time is ok. Go figure, , , , just an annoyance.
