Title: Thought updates didn't change your computer
Post by: debby on January 11, 2017, 02:45:06 PM
I'm running Windows 10, I have Intel Core I-5-4460, CPU @3.20 GHz, RAM: 8.00 GB, Sys Type: 1T 64-bit op sys.  Last night when I went to shut down my computer, it said it was going to update and then shutdown.  Fine.  This morning I turn it on and I have to wait a few minutes for it to install, etc.  Fine, no problem.  When I finally get to the end of all that and my computer is ready to use, my e on my task bar is gone for Internet Explorer.  So I drug one over from the start menu, however there is a blank there, no little e on the taskbar.  I can click on the blank space and my Internet comes up, but my husband will never know that until I show him.  I was once told on Computer Hope that updates will never change my computer.  Every time I have an update, it changes something that I don't know how to fix.  As most of you know, I know nothing about the workings of a computer, I want my little e back and I want it to stop making changes when it does updates.  Can I do that?

Right clik the Taskbar and select customise...adjust accordingly...

BTW I doubt we told you updates would not change your PC...we been here long enough to see all the update nightmares that have transpired thru the years...

I right-clicked on toolbar...no customization for IE symbol to be in the blank space.  My computer never does what people tell me to make it do.  And I know it's not ALL ME.

No, no properties tab.  It has Internet Explorer above "Close Window" and "Unpin from taskbar", then "Internet Explorer".  Right-click on that and I don't see where you can put the little e on the taskbar.  I'll read what you sent me and see if I can figure it out.  Thanks!

WAIT -WAIT!  I GOT IT!  I'm all happy now until the next problem shows up!  Now I can sleep tonight!  I went to the shortcut on my desktop, told it to unpin from taskbar, then went back and right-clicked the shortcut on desktop again, said pin to taskbar, and it worked!  How stupid am I?  No, don't rate that one...THANK YOU PATIO!!!!!
