Hi everyone.
I am trying to repair my old Window XP desktop. When I try to start it, I get this message :
Windows could not start because of an error in the software.
Please report this problem as :
load needed DLLs for kernel.
Please contact your support person to report this problem.
After searching the internet, I now understand that an essential file is corrupted. I created a bootable XP Recovery Console CD. I'm using to recover the system. I followed all the steps, but now I'm stuck and don't know what command I should use to recover the corrupted file. Please help me to do so.

You could try this: When it asks for your CD put your recovery disk and see what happens.
•Click on Start > Run and type sfc /scannow then press Enter (note the space between scf and /scannow)
*Let this run undisturbed until the window with the blue progress bar goes away
SFC - Which stands for System File Checker, retrieves the correct version of the file from %Systemroot%\System32\Dllcache or the Windows installation source files, and then replaces the incorrect file.

I'm stuck with a black screen. I can't get to the Windows to click start. I made a XP recovery console CD. I tried to fix the corrupted file. But I'm still not sure which file is corrupted. I followed the steps in this YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SOgY48Ad4V8 but this didn't solve the problem.
I have two windows copies. One in the C drive and another in the D.
Please help me, I really need to get this PC working.

Have you tried starting in Safe Mode?
-
I can't start in Save Mode. all I got is a black screen. Now after all these attempts to fix it, and trying to install the Windows XP from a UBS, it is giving me a new error message, which is Hal.dll is missing or corrupt, and invalid boot.ini file message also flash briefly when I start the system.
-
You start in Safe Mode by repeatedly hitting F2 while the computer is booting.
-
On my system it is the F8 key.
If he can not recovry his XP system, he will need to:
1. Boot up from a resue CD like Macrium Reflect .
2. Save documents and stttings to a DVD,
3. Install XP again, eraseding all data.
4. Restore documents and settings
5. Install other programs lost.
