Title: fdisk
Post by: Stuart Douglas on December 18, 2005, 10:33:02 AM
I want to format my my hard drive and remove Windows 2000 so I can install XP.
When I type 'fdisk' after the DOS prompt I get the message 'fdisk' is not reconised as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
Any ideas !

Put XP disk in CD ROM and follow steps. It will offer you format and installation of new OS.

or here is wider info:

Title: DiskPart

XP uses Diskpart to partition the drive.

If you can't remove stubborn NTFS partitions made with 2000 use the bootdisk with Delpart, and then use the XP CD to do the preparation and (FULL) formatting.
