Title: OSX and DOS together on single disk and working!
Post by: MIRKOSOFT on February 18, 2019, 09:34:48 PM
Hi!

Last time I was looking for solution how to use DOS, Windows and OSX on single harddrive.
All replies on this forum were that's impossible.
Now - I can say only: It needs only bit of patience to get it work!

How I created single disk with working OSX and DOS?
1. take one empty disk
2. install there DOS
3. create or get boot floppy for DOS
4. insert disk into other computer and make disk image of DOS partition
5. insert that disk into computer for use with OSX
6. insert OSX install DVD into drive and boot
7. on disk by Disk Tool create new partition table and use 2 partitions: MacOS Journaled and empty space - fit them by your wish
8. insert disk to other computer and restore image to empty space defined in OSX partition table
9. insert disk back and install OSX
That's all!
Now to boot into DOS it needs only boot from floppy.

If is anyone interest, I can provide details.

Used OSes and hardware:
OSX86 10.4 Tiger 32-bit
MS-DOS 7.10 and Windows 3.11 for Workgroups
notebook HP Compaq Evo n1000v with floppy and DVD drive

possible alternatives:
external floppy drive
other OSX86
maybe earlier DOS version

Please don't crucify me for use OSX on non-Apple hardware.
Thank you all for each help to get this work!
I can provide details about all, but please leave for me patience for missing free time.
