Title: Windows ME startup .. problem
Post by: terminal69 on January 24, 2006, 05:58:08 PM
Well my friend called me up and asked me a question I did not know .. so I'm hoping one of you guys can tell me the solution to this problem. My friend made his custom computer, all the parts are in, everything is good and he has a Windows ME startup cd and floppy disc. He tells me that when he tries to install, something shows up and says he can't install .. something about it not being able to run on FAT 64. He tells me that on his previous custom computers, it worked fine and tells me that it worked on a FAT 32 and he asked me how to turn his FAT 64 to a FAT 32 so that his Windows ME disc or cd works. Any help is appreciated.

There is FAT32 and NTFS. I don't know what he is referring to, but if you boot with the floppy and run FDISK it will delete the partition and allow you to create a new one. Then you can format it any way you like.

Perhaps some details about the system would shed some light on this...
