Title: CD-R/CD-RW drive won't read blank CDs
Post by: Mary_Eileen on January 30, 2006, 02:39:40 PM
:-?Trying to save data onto my NEC NR-7700A CD-R/CDRW Drive and now it won't read the blank CDs. Have a Gateway computer(2001), had WinME on, but had to Format Hard drive and was forced to install Win 98 on instead. Computer reads pre programmed discs, like games and such, but won't read the blank ones. Have a program called Magma Burner Extreme to copy the CDs, but no can do. Get an Error message on "Recorder Error" Illegal Request. and lots of numbers. Can anyone suggest a solution? Thanks

I am assuming it used to work? Recently?

How about trying some different burner software? Uninstall that thing first!

(And no software can read blank CD's. They're blank!)
