Let's refine this some and see exactly what types of animation you can not see. If you go to www.yahoo.com, do you see an animated advertisment on the upper right (below the search box) part of the page? If not, then you probably need to visit http://www.macromedia.com/software/flashplayer/ and install Flash Player 8.
Now, let's see whether animated images, i.e. .gif files (not Flash) will display in your browser. If you go to http://www.newarkadvocate.com/apps/pbcs.dll/frontpage, do you see an animiated .gif near the upper mid-section of the page, an advertisement for Apartments.com?
-
i dont see either of them.

Do you see Computer Hope.com, with Computer Hope in blue letters and .com in black, at the top of this forum?

Do you see the hand, does it move for you? (http://www.comcen.com.au/~fed/hand.gif)

So, now we know you can see images, but not animation. In IE, go to Tools, Internet Options, the Advanced tab, and scroll down to the Multimedia section. If the box for "Play animations in web pages" is not checked, put a check mark in it. Click on Apply and OK. Either close your browser and reopen it or at least hit the Refresh button on IE. Now, can you see animation?

What OS (vesion of Windows) are you running? How old is your computer? You said in your original post that "we just rebooted my computer about a month ago because we had a lot of viruses". Rebooting simply means restarting your computer. That's not what you meant to say, is it? Did you mean to say you formatted your hard drive, erasing everything on it, and then did a fresh installation of Windows?
Do you know how to open Windows Device Manager? Have you looked at it since you did whatever you did about a month ago? Specifically, does Device Manager indicate your Display adapter is working properly? What is your Display adapter, i.e. the name of it?
Can you run dxdiag? To do that, go to Start, Run, and enter dxdiag in the Run box. When the DirectX Diagnostic Tool appears, click on the Display tab, and then click on the button for Test DirectDraw. Did the test report "All tests were successful."? Is DirectDraw enabled?
Can you use animated screen savers?

Are you running any sort of internet acceleration program?
-
whats that.
