Title: Antispam OE Hook Launcher
Post by: Dronfieldman on November 30, 2023, 07:47:50 AM
Since ceasing to pay for a Norton 360 subscription and getting the software free, as a result of having my broadband from BT, I keep getting a dialogue box appearing saying 'Antispam OE Hook Launcher' and it expects me to keep putting in my Microsoft / Outlook password before it lets me use Outlook.   I've raised the problem with Norton Community but they don't seem to have a solution.   None of the suggestions they've made have solved the problem.   Does anyone here have a solution?

I had already tried those remedies, to no effect.

It appears Nortons has put an add on to Outlook which is no longer available with the free version.

This site shows the switches for outlook to check ad ins are the  problem https://www.outlook-apps.com/load-outlook-no-add-ins/

Or you could look for the add in as below

1. Open the Outlook desktop client

2. Go to the File tab.

3. Click Options.

4. In the Add-ins section on the left, choose COM Add-ins and press Go.

5. Check the Add-in you want to remove and press the Remove button at the right

You are looking for Norton Antispam

6. Repeat for additional plugins or press the X at the top right to close the dialogue.

When I follow your instructions and select 'Norton antispam Outlook plugin' and try to remove it, it responds with "This add-in is installed for all users on this computer and can only be connected or disconnected by an administrator." and it refuses to remove it.
It would appear that the choice is to go back and pay for Norton 360 to be rid of this sign-in dialogue box or to continue with the free version of Norton 360 provided by BT and put up with the sign-in box periodically appearing.   I think I will do the latter, to save money.
Thanks for trying to solve this.

What the PC asks for when I log in to it, i.e. when it boots up, is a PIN.   I don't know what PIN I am supposed to use for the PC to realise that I am the administrator.   I only have one PIN.
