Title: drives won't read discs
Post by: tipi on March 06, 2006, 07:39:15 PM
I've just reinstalled xp. I reloaded all my programs and half of my backup files in one session then shut the system down. When I rebooted, my DVD drive, A drive and CD burner won't read any discs. If I load the discs and reboot, they come up but as soon as I change the discs, they won't read again. I've gone through the troubleshooting and it says that all drivers and devices are working ok. Obviously there is a simple solution to this but does anyone have an idea?

Am I reading this right?  You have a DVD player, a Floppy, and a CD Burner... and All 3 don't read?

Have you gone into Disk management to verify there's no issues with the drive letters clashing?  (just off the top)

Have you attempted to single out the issue?  ie.. Remove all but one and put each one back as it works?
