Ok, whenever I start up my computer, it makes a loud buzzing/groaning noise while it loads up. It then stops when I get to the User login screen on XP operating system.
Does anyone have any clue what it is? or could be?
-
Have you tried cleaning out the inside og the computer? Is there something touvhing the computer that might be vibrating?
Flame
-
Yeah i've opened it up and everything. There nothing hitting and nothing touching it.
-
Are you able to narrow down where it might be coming from? The CD drive maybe?
Flame
-
Well I just turned it off and back on and felt around inside the computer while it started. I believe it's coming from the video card.
-
what could be wrong with it?
-
Does the card have a fan on it? have you tried removing the card and reseating it?
Flame

yeah well when ever i apply pressure to it or move in around it stops until i let go. I believe the fan is still working because i feel air coming from under it .
-
Didn't we do this last year?

What was the outcome of all of that?

Nothing the fan was for a different video card.
-
So it sounds like your card is loose... Blow out any dust in the slot, and make sure nothing's broken, etc. Is there anything you can tighten?
Flame

sounds to me like the fan itself... Did you say the noise stopped when you hold the card? How bout when you just stop the fan from spinning with your finger? I've known fans of all sorts to make noise when they go bad.
-
Well if the fan is bad can I get a new one or do I need a new video card? It is a PNY GeForce FX 5200 PCI 128mb DDR.
