Title: Windows 95 Ws2_32 error
Post by: Deicide764 on March 15, 2006, 09:49:35 AM

I'm running a computer with Windows 95. When I tried to install PeoplePc to have an internet access, an error appeared stating that Ws2_32.dll needs a newer version of Windows. The computer was barely reformatted. At first it gaves me an error that said that it couldn't find the ws2_32dll. file. I downloaded the file off from the internet and then it gave the error about upgrading to a newer version of windows. If I need the Windows 95 update, can I download the updates and burn into a cd to install them on the computer?what can I do about this?...

It sounds like you need Windows 98SE or later to be successful with this, rather than just a few files that obviously have not helped.

I'm surprised that you've found an ISP that supports Win95.... Or does it?
Anyway, you need the 1.3 update for DUN and the WinSock2 update. If you have installed these in that order, and you still have problems then it's highly likely that you have a virus infection.
