I got a "friend" at school who claims his computer is "all that". He makes two claims, and one of them I know is ludicrice, but I am unsure of the second. (It would be stupid to do what he claims, but I don't know if it's possible)
1. He claims to have 1 TB of RAM. Yeah, he claims to have a full terabyte! Considering the insane cost of 1 GB for my system (around 120 USD) I can only imagine the cost of a TB. If the cost went up proportionally, it would cost about $122,880!!! And who's to say any processor on Earth can handle that much?? Obviously, I know this is a lie.
2. He claims is system is two towers hooked together, and that he's got two processors working together. Hook two PC's up? Maybe. But I don't know if two processors can work together. Can they?
(Of course, doing so would force both cases to be open 24/7, meaning that if one drop of anything got in there, both PC's would probably fry)
I just want to know so I can be armed with absolute facts when I confront him on his BS tomorrow.

Dilbert....... I suspect your "friend" is yanking your chain...... Now after saying this ...... I would be asking him to show you this magic machine of his .......
The last time I checked ....... the most ram that the desktop pcs will accept is 4gb ..... ( I think)
But I don't know if two processors can work together
I have seen server boxes with 2 processors in them.
On the other hand ...perhaps he's the next Willi Gates ......LOL

Your friend must one, be rich, and two, know a LOT more about computers than we do. I don't even know of any motherboard that can hold one terabyte of RAM. If you really want to get to him, ask if you can see it. I'd like to. :P

Thanks, guys. I was 100% sure he was yanking my chain with the TB, but I had no clue about the two processors. But he's saying he's got two towers hooked up running synchronously. That's BS too, right? ;)

He might be right on that one. Symmetric Multi Processing of computers is nothing new. Google: SMP PCs

If he lied about one issue, I would certainly have no reason to believe the other. ;)

Some mini computers can address that much RAM. Perhaps his dad grabbed an IBM cast-off!!!

But what are the chances that a kid in a rural town is going to own one of those? And he claimed he got it as a "present". Sounds like Gollum to me. But anyways, his chances of even getting one are about 0, and he claimed it was a tower machine. When I informed him this was an impossiblility, he said "really?" and changed the subject. But I can tell it hit home.
Oh, and I told him how the joke of a lie was appreciated by the forum members. :D

(In my defense, that lesson was from 6th grade. We haven't studied it in the last three years, and in the meantime we've been swamped with other info...)
Anyway, back on subject... "friend" with egg on face, friend laughing, and me too. Note the difference between "friend" and friend. All's well that ends well. :)
