Title: abcd.exe infection
Post by: turtlesks on April 10, 2006, 06:04:40 AM
My computer is infected with abcd.exe.  I am running windows XP and as soon as it starts up, it freezes for a few minutes.  Then I have about 3 seconds until abcd.exe pops up in the processes and the computer restarts.  One time, my virus scanner (McAfee) went crazy about finding a trojan but it restarted before I could read it.  My computer will start fine in safe mode but not safe mode with networking.  Therefore, I can't install or download anything.  I have ran pest patrol, ad-aware and spybot with no luck.  My virus scan also did not work.  I also went into msconfig to see what was in the start up and it was not listed.  Help!  I have way too much on this computer to reformat.  What else can I do?

Start in safe mode & run some scans, AVG and Ewido would be a good start.
