Title: Jedi Academy MP
Post by: lordvader781 on May 28, 2006, 12:23:17 AM
I am having a problem playing Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy Multiplayer.  When I click jamp.exe to start the game it shows the multiplayer console and then the SWJKJA logo after that.  Once the logo displays it comes up with an error about 5 seconds later saying that the program has ecountered a problem and needs to close.  I have done a clean install and have removed all addons from the gamedate\base folder.  Single player works fine without a problem though.

System specs:
Win XP Home SP2
Nvidia Geforce 2 64 MB
512 MB RAM
1.5 GHz CPU

Do you have a Hi-Speed internet connection?

I have DSL. How would that have anything to do with loading the game to the main menu?  I could understand that having an effect on loading the game to the actual playing part, but not the menu.

Anything part of the requirements is what you need. If I try to go to the main menu on Battlefield 2 for instance, I cannot go to the menu without having a Hi-Speed connection. When did this start? Have you made any changes to your system recently? Does the game manufacturer have any patches or hotfixes for thsi issue? Any game updates?

I used to have this game installed a while ago and it worked fine.  At one point I uninstalled it to save room on my small hard drive.  Just yesterday I installed it again.  I also have it installed on my wireless notebook and it works fine there too.

Something to do with that computer then... Some corrupt files possibly... Any support documents on the manufacturer's website about this?

you mean the game manufacturer or the computer?

Sorry. Yes, the game manufacturer. Hopefully the corruped files or whatever this is are in the game itself and not in another part of the computer.

Believe it or not it works now.  The only thing I did was install a patch from lucasarts.com.  Weird thing is, is that I did not have the patch installed on my laptop and the game ran fine on it.  I don't think the problem was corrupted files because I installed the game twice.  Thanks for the help anyway.

You must have an older CD; all JA discs sold today come patched to V1.1. ;)
