hi! i have a hp pavilion zd8000 notebook with windows xp. sometimes it just freezes and shuts down. and whenever i try to reboot it shuts down. it gets to the first screen saying windows is loading (i think that's what it says) and then it just dies. then i have to wait a couple of minutes before i can start it again.
i ran adaware, ccleaner and i've uninstalled all recently installed software but nothing helps.
any ideas?

Here is some general info. Read through this and see what applies:

What happened prior to this? Surely it has not always been this way. Is it still under warranty?

thanks! no it's not always been that way. but i have no clue what could have happened. it's still under warranty though so if nothing helps..
i'm going through the list now. i just checked the temperature. is this normal?

Send it in for warranty repair. There is nothingyou can (or should) do to attempt a repair. You could also invalidate your warranty.

ok yeah if it's a hardware problem i wouldn't even think of trying to repair it. i was hoping for something like "change this setting or and it'll be fine"
thanks

Be sure and post back so we know how the story ends. ;)

the repair guy told me to try the vacuum claner before i send it in. i was a bit sceptic..
but i tried and it seems it did the trick
some pretty nasty dust balls crawled out.
me and my computer are happy again
