Delete the parttition and recreate one and then format it.

How big is the hard drive and what version of 95 is it? The earlier ones could only use FAT16 which limits you to 2 gig partition sizes.

Is the hard drive seen correctly in the BIOS? If not, anything else is futile.

Is the drive a new addition to the computer? What happened prior to this reinstall plan? How is itt jumpered? What is the make and model?

If the drive is functional and seen ccorrectly you may just have to make a 2 gig partition to install to find out what you have. The first primary hard drive is always C.

pcj240ross...... Does your boot disk contain the format command ........because if it has , once the boot disk has loaded and you get the A: prompt ,  you simply type .... Format C:  and enter and away it goes .

type in fdisk and press enter from the A:> prompt.

That is where you can delete the existing partitions and then create a new one. Then you have to reboot and format the drive. THEN you can install. (See Reply #2)

If it is formatted as NTFS it cannot be seen! Windows 95 does not speak that language.

At least you had an external drive. I had to back up to a cassette recorder!

Repairs and parts were always a problem for Commodores.  :-/

Utterly baffling.  ;)

You might be able to bag some C64 spares on eBay.  :)

I wonder what its going to be like when I'm 50 , and I'm telling people of the Advent of Windows Revolutionary GUI'S and how My Massive PC was a WHOLE 266MHz They'll Be Amazed!

Of course the First time i used a PC it Was a 286 and was running dos, but that was in my First Year off School and the whole School had to share one Computer. It had a game on it to learn how to Spell, ... it put up a picture of an Egg and you then had to type in Egg, that would have been fine , only i couldn't tell that the picture was an Egg
