Belarc will not help with sound card identification if the drivers are not loaded. Everest Home will help. Just download and run and post the report file here. You will learn a lot about your computer.
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4181.html
For a Dell, ALL the drivers ever released are available on their site.
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen
Just put in your service tag OR choose Optiplex/GX150 on the ruight side, choose your operating system and off you go.

You need the analog devices driver:
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R45973&SystemID=PLX_PNT_P3C_GX150&os=WNT5&osl=en&deviceid=691&devlib=0&typecnt=1&vercnt=2&formatcnt=1&libid=3&fileid=53829\
Download it, then click on it and follow the instructions.
-
sorry but the link that u just gave brings me nowhere.
-
i downloaded this from driverguide.com - 82801 BA/BAM AC'97 Audio Controller
do i have a sound card? what is my sound card anyway? or is this the sound card that i need?
deng. im so confused. LOL.
-
Go back to the page where you downloaded the soundblaster and choose the first option under sound for the Analog Devices.
You have onboard sound (located on the motherboard) not a sound card but you DO have sound. Dell driveres are preferred to get this resolved. (For some reason that link to the driver wouldn't work, but try again as instructed.)
-
what? where is that? what page?
-
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen
Just put in your service tag OR choose Optiplex/GX150 on the ruight side, choose your operating system and off you go.
Additional Info:
That system has been upgraded since it was originally shipped new on 5/30/01. The original 128 meg RAM has been upgraded to a 256 meg. and the original 10 gig drive has been replaced with an 80 gig. That should be all you need for Windows 2000.
Here is the manual:

In Choose a Device for Download, shall i choose Audio Drivers?
-
Yes, when you choose that you will get 5-6 choices. The Analog Devices is the top one. It is a SoundMax driver (when you get it installed).
-
OK. THen i am lead to this page.... C:\Dell\Drivers\R45973\README.HTM ....Should i click Install Now? when i did click it, it said .. error installing iKernel.exe
-
No, click on Download Now, right below the file name R45973.EXE
-
Ok. Shall i unzip the files?
-
Double click on it and then you will get the choice to run it. Do so.
-
