Title: small question
Post by: matt on September 08, 2004, 01:40:21 AM
Hey,
I have a copy of Windows 98 SE lying around doing nothing because I dont have the CD key to be able to install it, I tried over 20 different keys I found on the net but they didnt work so I phoned Microsoft and they gave me a generic key which also didnt work, which means the only key that will work is the one that came with the cd.

Is there anyway of getting the key off the CD?

The reason I ask is because I format my hard drive once a year but installing the operating system back on the hard drive is a real pain. I have to take the hard drive out of my parents IBM computer and replace it with mine, once thats done I just use the IBM recovery disk and install an IBM version of Win98 onto my hard drive then I have to put everything back where it came from :-X
Help would be appreciated  8)

Search the internet for keyfinder.  It's a small app that will give you the key from your installed windows.
