Post by: honvetops on July 31, 2006, 03:18:56 PM
Newbie* game playing...  <<<<   purchased this today.
WNDS-XP

Nvidia GForce 7300 GS   256MB     PCI-E          DirectX 9.0 <<pretty sure~

GOING to install this tonight and try it out.  What should I close down, disable, etc..  before installing...
Will my computer be able to handle this ?  ( Emachines 2 months old  t3422)
Will installation show/tell me how to  "set"  my settings  or do I do this beforehand?

Game system mins: 512 MB , 2 ghZ , 128 MB  Direct 3D & DirectX 9.0

I just want to make sure, will have an extra fan blowing in case for heat* :-/

Well if your computer meets the minimum requirements, I'd assume it would work. Only one way to find out.

My puter / video card ^ see above,  seems to be handling this game just fine.
Pretty impressive RPG  <<  so far.  I read a lot of the reviews and they seem to be pretty close to what I am experiencing. Does the game get easier for an older fart once you get used to the keyboard- action keys? I am slow to react to attacks* Had to re-install once , some  dll  file was missing? Any clues or hints on how to get out of the 1st "mission" would be appreciated, thanks.

I think so, yes  I am in the sewers *  how do I aim the arrows "better" << having problems shooting.
** NEED ADVICE** again ~  "Tiger Woods 2006" PC game~ I cannot get that
game to recognize my walmart-bought Phillips game controller? I cannot continue this game via the mouse anymore, I will go insane. I installed the drivers, then pluged-in the usb-controller, ran a trouble-shoot through windows and it recognized the controller. Says my drivers are there. But; in the device manager I cannot see the controller listed under printers/ or anything else? What did I do wrong? :'(
Thanks for responding earlier.

You Should see your Joy pad under game controllers in Control panel,

and in the Tiger woods game you should be able to set up the Controls for the Pad , in options > Controls

Help me out here:  I have the game on medium with the 2nd highest resolution setting from my lcd
I don't seem to have a problem with the game ? I know I am still in the sewers but there's no screen jump or fade in out, it seems just fine. Do I not have the video card working somehow?  Please inform.....I know its nothing great the  7300 GS   <<< but I am not a serious gamer by no means.*

Pan Boy  <<< thanks, will try the controller tonight, appreciate  info**

"Do I not have the video card working somehow?"

If you "don't seem to have a problem with the game" then don't ask, you'll jinx it  ;)

Don't Worry about track , he doesn't seem to know what the limits of hard ware are, any 7 series Geforce card will play Oblivion, its one of those games that needs more Ram than it Needs GFX power

You may find when you go out side the Game performance gets a bit worse.

Also you can change how fast your mouse moves in one of the Control Settings pages , you may find it easier to aim with a slower moving mouse

*<<Thanks "Panboy*  Yeah, the mouse was way to "freaky" so I lowered that the other day.    I am giving up on the controller!!  :-/ I have not a clue what my problem is with that. Maybe I should  just break -down and buy the Logitech that windows & the  Tig-Wds 2006  says is game compatable?   If anyone out there (kids or teens)  wants a free controller that does not have the funds, contact a moderator (if that is website rules ???  )  I will give it away...

Ok, dude this is getting out of hand. "Needs more RAM then GFX power" ?? thats the most retarted thing ive ever seen. The graphics card dose all of the work, RAM is just what enables it to work. The GPU is what makes everything work.
You keep giving ppl hope that crappy cards will run their game, but according to every benchmark ive seen even high end cards cant run Oblivion that well.

And how many benchmarks test on lowest detail? And how many test on high detail? Exactly. Not everyone is, can, or wants to be a hardcore gamer, and many people will just be pleased if the game runs; they don't care about maxing it out.

me  <<< being the layman / non-hardcore gamer that I am, is ok with just being able to play/run  the game without something I have no clue to (extreme gaming+ results =  a hi-end video card.  *   What am I and everyone else who isn't into the hi-end gaming experience missing?  I don't mind keeping the thread going!  (Thanks  Neil)   Does blood or spilt beer come out of the console if my graphics card is better? :'(

I seen bouth Blood and Beer come out of a Console...

And the me tell you it look'ed like it hurt.

Track your Just being Silly now, i know ive been being short with you, that why in that post i tryed not to simply say your stupid , becase i dont think you are, it seems to me you just been Falling into the Hype that the GFX companys trow at us.

Ablivion Need more Ram Becase of the Size of the enviroment, i have 1 Gig of ram in my Computer, and when im in a Cave the Game Run's Great 50 - 80 FPS At Ultra High

But once i go out side , it Drops to 20 FPS some times , and gets kinda jumpy , and if theres a Gate near By its a sorry state of Affairs.

Track i been Working and Playing with computers for Years, im a Network Admin, The job i have now Is mostly Programing, and when i go home i play with my Computer, and i only Up Grade my GFX every 2 or 3 Gererations.

IE , i went Form an s3 verge , to a Vodoo3 to a Geforce 2 to a Geforce 5 to a Gefroce 7, and ive never met a Game i couldent play

good thing I suck and won't be "outside" anytime soon!  Ok, at least now I know what probably will happen to screen quality when I get outside. I talked to some guy today at a store and he said some people really are into the quality thing  associated with  that  "Lan"  online playing stuff. I can understand why he is so serious about quality when u are on that level.
I saw this article today in  maximum PC   this new  2x XFX GeForce 7900 GTX XXX   <<< this thing had clock speeds @  700 Mhz and 900 Mhz  "tuning XFX supercharges the core and memory speeds.   Interesting article on their "dream machine".
