Post by: flames_fan on September 13, 2006, 05:04:00 PM

I can't play because my computer isn't powerful enough. :'(

I don't recognise the graphics card so I assume it's an onboard. All you need is a graphics card to run. I believe a 5700 should run it sufficently and be available quite cheaply now.

My computer only has 1 PCI slot and there aren't many good video cards that use PCI.

5700 uses an AGP slot...
Title: Re: Do you play BF2?

I think a pentium 4 machine should be new enough to at least have an  AGP slot.  You sure all you have is one extra PCI?
Title: Re: Do you play BF2?

Yes. Can you add an AGP port onto the motherboard?

I buy new parts for the Battlefield series alone. I bought new parts for 1942, I bought new parts for 2 and I bought new parts for BF2142 which I pre-ordered.

If you have a decent ping on any of the Gamert, kifferstuebchen or Uk Ranked Road to jalalabad Resurrection servers (Just type Gamert, Kiffer or UK Ranked in the search filter ) and would like to play with me and a mate of mine whilst using Teamspeak2, add me to MSN : [email protected]

Apparantly BF2142 will be very similar to BF2 in terms of computer usage, because it is using the same engine.

This topic wasn't about showing off your specifications, but about getting information from people who played Battlefield 2.

BF1942 was good, but BF2 is better. Graphic and teamplay wise. At least I now get points for being a medic. Too bad they didn't keep the sniper rifle, though. At least that required skill, unlike the lame M95 and SVD.

What's the point in having a sniper rifle when you can't even get a one shot kill when you hit the head of your target?

The longer you keep the sight on a target, the more accurate it becomes. And you need to take into account bullet drop at distance. But I've noticed weapons on Call of Duty 2 (ww2) seem more accurate than those on BF2, in modern times!

You can't?

Not with the SVD you don't.

The bolt action rifles will, but those are lame. In BF1942 you had one that really took some skill to kill. Now any 14 year old can use  a sniper rifle and claymore *censored* himself out of any situation.

BF2 is a different kind of game, though. Much more open space space, but the guns really aren't all that deadly. It takes about 15 shots with an Mp5 to get someone killed. (Taking into account 3-5 missed bullets) the P90 is worthless too. The other guns aren't all that bad, but sometimes it's ridiculous how impervious some soldiers seem to be to bullets.

And no, I'm not a newbie. Come face me anytime.  ;D

I play mostly AT, and i kill Plenty of Peoples with The SMG, i don't find it all the inaccurate if you use the sights and fire in short bursts,... but if you running at some some spaming.... thats silly.

I suck pretty bad in the Jets, but I'm a half decent chopper pilot, did you play Desert Combat Mod For 1942, now flying the Choppers in that was Fun, and a challenge.

I wish BF2 had a Buddy list. do any of the gameres up in here use X-Fire?

raptor i will have to disagree with your "any 14 year old can use  a sniper rifle" statement. at far distances one has to take into consideration bullet drop and also bullet time. the target has to be lead in order to make a successful hit.

also, i believe the SVD has kind of a "handicap" because of its quick fire rate. if it were as strong as the m95, the team that has the SVD for the basic sniper weapon, would have a great advantage would they not? in order to balance the weapons out, they made the bullet strength less.

and the p90 is not worthless, i have seen MANY people get owned by one, including me. :(

Not when you're facing a shitpile of sniper-whores that are all aiming for you, since the M95 takes up about 90% health.

Some maps are just more pro-sniper than others and the 14 year old kiddies know that. They're after me, they all are.. Staring at me with their beedy little eyes..

Especially the no vehicle maps are a pain in the *censored*, but they're great fun none the less.

The SVD is worthless, all it does is annoy medics and reveal the snipers their location.

Snipers are easy knife kills.

Quote
and the p90 is not worthless, i have seen MANY people get owned by one, including me. Sad

I rarely get shot by an Mp5 or P90 and I always play Medic, I barely drive any vehicles.

The AK-series and M16 are the deadliest firearms out there, if any Anti-Tank can win from me he was either sporting a DAO-12 or he caught me with low health.

But really, if you people all play Battlefield 2 we should really find a server to play on.

Add me to MSN: [email protected].

I'm from Europe, though, so I do not play on American servers..

i mostly play on ORST university server. its lag free and the players have a good mix of experience. (i hate servers where the server members are all on the same team and just rock you the second you spawn. >:()

BTW why dont you spawn as a sniper and give those sniper whores a nice hot lead injection to the face? snipers rarely move so you have alot of time to line up a head shot on them.

sadly if a sniper is camping a base, other players most oftenly rely on their teammates to kill the sniper. almost nobody takes the initiative. believe me, ive camped an enemy base for the whole game once and died maybe twice.

Because I didn't unlock any of the sniper rifles. I have all the guns apart from the sniper rifles.

I try to find a squad that sticks together, there the most effective ones. and i just unlocked the P90 , it is so much better than the standard SMG, i have already killed many peoples with it. and its the only gun in the game that i don't recommend short bursts.

Its lacking on stopping power but it makes up for it with ROF and accuracy.

In Call of Duty 2 team deathmatch you respawn next to someone in your team, and I've noticed people play together in a team much more than they do in Battlefield 2, which is sad considering BF2 is all supposed to be about teamplay. The respawning near your squad leader idea is good, but especially now they've stopped you from rotating leaders, squads are much less useful. You should be able to spawn next to any player in your squad. Less realistic? Who cares, it'll be more fun. (And besides respawning next to your leader isn't exactly realistic either.)
Title: Re: Do you play BF2?
Post by: unlovedwarrior on September 27, 2006, 09:40:00 AM
respawning in general isn't realistic lol.

EDIT: wow that was a long time before i realized my awsome spelling
Title: Re: Do you play BF2?
Post by: Raptor on September 27, 2006, 09:49:51 AM
Call of Duty 2 has much smaller maps than Battlefield 2 so you're forced to stick together and you'll find yourself doing so even if you don't mean to.

Battlefield 2 has a bit too much freedom, but if you're with a good squad and you keep pushing forward you'll have a lot of fun and probably end up winning each round. Unless you play Wake Island, which is just lame.
Title: Re: Do you play BF2?
Post by: homer on September 27, 2006, 12:17:55 PM
the best thing a squad can do is have the squad leader hide somewhere near a flag and have a medic bodyguard. the squad members can spawn off the leader, and if the leader is found, the bodyguard medic can resusitate him (or respawn on him if the enemy sees the medic first).

another good thing that a squad leader can do, is to enter into a passenger heli and fly up to around 450-500 ft. then hover from flag to flag. as squad members spawn in the chopper, they just simply jump out and parachute. :)

It wont support any wide Screen Resolutions.
Is that one?

The Reason behind that is because it would give you a larger FOV , and an advantage.

I just got a wide Screen Monitor, and it took me a while to rind the Right Res...

But Bf 2142 , looks stretched, and my monitor doesn't have a feature to set it to 4:3, its kinda annoying.

I thought 1280x1024 was a standard resolution, I have a Samsung 930BF monitor and that is the native resolution.

1280x960 seems like a widescreen resolution to me?  :-?

It doesn't really look bad, but I find it to be a bit more stretched out than 1280x1024..

1260 * 980 the the highest it will go on mine, only 45 Mins till the Full game , are you going to be on line?

Here are the common resolutions for 16:10 aspect ratio:

A better videocard, along the lines of a 7300GS or GT would probably make a lot of difference. But then again, if you want to play modern games such as BF2 and BF2142, you're going to have to look for a new system sooner or later.
