I am not able to install DirectX 9.0c. When I try to install it, it says that the components are installed and ready to use but when I open dxdiag, it still says DirectX 9.0b. I am running Windows XP SP2. Please help me! :-?

Ishbir Singh,Welcome to Computerhope. :)
Maybe you should download a new copy of Dx9.0c and try again.

I have downloaded it again many times but no effect. This problem has come on other's computers too but I have not found any solution. :-?
-
Is there a specific reason that you need 9.0C?
-
Yes, I have to install Nero 7.5. It requires DirectX 9.0c.
-
Is it a legal Windows installation? Any other issues?
-
Yes, it is genuine. I have checked on Microsoft site.
-
DirectX 9.0c is included with XP Service Pack 2 but it is a common occurance that dxdiag still says DirectX 9.0b, I've known quite a few people with that same problem. That would explain why it tells you that "the components are installed and ready to use" because indeed they are. Have you tried installing Nero 7.5 anyway?
-
Yes, I have tried installing it but it says that it requires DirectX 9.0c.

Ok, here's something you can try. First download DirectX Eradicator from here. (http://www.majorgeeks.com/download509.html)
Now you'll need the full versions of both 9.0b and 9.0c.
Once you get them extract them into two different temporary folders.
Copy and paste the following files from DX 9.0b temp folder to the DX 9.0c folder.
dxsetup.exe
dsetup32.dll
DSETUP.dll
Next run DX Eradicator and uninstall DirectX, when it's done run dxsetup from the 9.0c temp folder that you copied the files to. That should solve your problem. ;)

Can't it be done without the copy of DirectX 9.0b? I have the copy of DirectX 9.0c updated till August 2006.
-
You just need the three files from DX 9.0b as mentioned above. I'll attach them here for you.
Do you have the full version of DX9.0c (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=FB73D860-5AF1-45E5-BAC0-9BC7A5254203&displaylang=en)?
If so just follow the directions above.
Here is dxsetup.exe & DSETUP.dll
-
...and here is dsetup32.dll
As mentioned above just extract the DX 9.0c files into a folder and then copy these three files over to that folder (overwriting the 9.0c files) and then run dxsetup.exe
-
I'll just see.

Thanks, that worked! ;D

You're welcome. ;D
