Title: Loaded windows 98 and lost colour options
Post by: SMcC65 on October 08, 2006, 05:32:11 PM
Computer had linux loaded, (pretty sure that's irrelavant info!) formatted the HD and loaded windows 98se instead, since then, the only colour options I have are 2 colours or 16 colours.  Picture was previously good and had 16 true colour and 256 colour options too. Have tried it on a spare monitor and have the same result.
Is there anyway I can fix this?
Thankyou.

SMcC65 Welcome to Computerhope.

You need to download and run Everest to Identify you hardware.

http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4181.html

Then go to the manufacturers website and download the driver for
your video.

Once you correctly identify the hardware the drivers CAN be found. The internet is a big place.  ;)

No, it didn't. It just doesn't carry as many drivers as newer versions of Windows do.
