There is someone that lives with me that is constantly spying on what I do when on the computer. THey monitor my email etc. How can I stop this? Is it possible to stop it with out them knowing I have done anything?
-
How do you know they are spying on you?
-
How about just putting a password on your adminstrative account, and restricting this other user to a limited account?
-
They are the system administrator and I have found files on the computer where I can see they have gotten into my email even though it is passworded. So how do I stop that? They must have some form of tracking software
-
Is your password an easy one to guess? If so, change it to a "stronger" password, one with numbers and/or symbols, as well as letters, and see whether you still detect the spying.
How are you currently accessing your email? Is it downloaded to the computer or must you be online and use a web browser to view it? If you currently download it to the computer, can you access it via web browser?
-
You can't hide from the admin. They have access to everything on the machine.

Would you care to explain how they get access to email passwords? I don't think your statement is true. Some kind of key logger or spying tool may be present if someone is getting her email password.

daunte61...... After carefully reading your posts........ there are a number of things you havent mentioned ......... For example.........?
Who owns the computer you are using ?
Is it possible that your online activities are being monitored for your own good ?
I get the sense that you aren't giving us the complete story.

It is my husbands computer and he isnt monitoring me for my own good he is simply paranoid and checking on everything I do and everyone I talk to. THe passwords do use letters numbers and characters it is through Yahoo email so I do not down load my email I read it on line.
At what point does this become an invasion of one's privacy?
-
im assuming you either have the computer remeber your password, or he has a keylogger. keyloggers are hard to track because they dont show up anywhere. i, being a slightly vengeful person, would recommend keylogging him.

How old is this whipper snapper (husband)?
They still make 10lb. iron frying pans getting harder to find.
You can cook a man a wonderful meal with one of these.
You could also pert near kill him with it.
Mothers used to pass these on to their newlywed daughters and the
men knew what they were for. :-? ;D

It sounds like there are other, even more important issues. Perhaps those should be resolved in therapy?

At the point that he chose to start doing this...

I happen to have a set of cast iron skillets.

The worlds best corn bread is baked in a cast iron skillet

"Invasion of privacy"? That's the least of your worries.
How about communicating with each other - is that an option?
-

Good point there Homer but if you try to keylog a person who keylogs you he will know :-/
Anyway, most keyloggers are detected by AntiVirus programs. what AV are you using?
-
Communication is no longer an option he isnt listening, and I am using Norton AV

Communication is no longer an option
Do you want then to tackle the problem, or the symptoms? A rhetorical question, which I would not encourage you to answer in a public forum.
This is a sad story. :(

:-[ maybe u could stop "cheating on him" ?
-
Yep, she doesn't need a computing forum, she needs to find another type of forum: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=marriage+forum
-
why don't u say "if u won't stop, i'll delete all ur *censored*, sell all ur dvd's, and block all ur favorite sites" he should listen to that.
When you get beyond being 13 years old you will understand why this doesn't work with humans. ::)
-
I thought 13 was being generous...
-
Wow, the quality of the advice on this site has really shot through the roof. Woohoo (he said, flatly).
-
since when u aren't a man anymore, GX1_Girl?
but u can always changed the emotion on ur husband's face with an axe. after u hit him around 375 times, he won't spy u anymore. if he still does, i suggest to devorce really fast.
You keep proving my point.
-
How would I uncover or find a program like netvizor, spyanywhere, real time spy or any of that type of program?
-
Doubtful you could, and you would be seen looking around for it anyway, if it is a keylogger.
-
Ewido will track keyloggers...not sure about the ones you have mentioned however.
I honestly think this is part of a bigger issue and wish you luck....
