i would like to rename multiple files in a directory or folder in the command prompt (win xp)

You need >Windows PowerShell< (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/technologies/management/powershell/default.mspx).

oh.. thank you! for the replies..

i learned something new.. and i have solved the renaming i found out about a software that renames multiple files.

called "easyrename"

but anyway THANKS!
