Title: PLEASE help with driver problems....
Post by: jlederer on December 29, 2006, 08:32:58 AM
My computer has the drivers for both the dvd player & the cd/rw.
However, it shows an "(!)" sign next to both of them.

Upon inserting a dvd or disc in either player, nothing happens accept
a window pops us saying: Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware. (Code 37)

I checked out what "code 37" means, and it reccomends I un-install & then re-install both drivers.

My question is, how do I reinstall these two drivers if I don't have a disc (the one you get from the mfg).  It appears you may not need  the disc?????

OR....is there some other answer to this problem?

My system: windows xp (HP Pavilion 750n)
DVD player is: pioneer dvd-rom  dvd-117
CD/RW is: Samsung cd-r/rw   sw-224b

I have had my computer now since 2002, never had this problem before!

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!!!! ;D
John

Welcome to Computerhope, jlederer.
To uninstall the drivers, do the following.
Go into device manager, right click on the device, and select uninstall.
Then reboot, and the drivers will be installed automatically.
Under Windows XP, no drivers are needed for CD/DVD drives.
Hope this helps.
