I recently got a new computer and want to enable sharing so I can connect an existing laptops to it. With the old computer that had XP Home, it was easy to setup sharing. With this new one that has XP Media Center, there seems to be new settings that XP Home doesn't have. I've already created a workgroup named 'HomeNetwork'. The computer's name is 'Main' and the laptop's name is 'Michael'. I ran the setup process for sharing on both computers. However, they cannot see each other. I have the firewall currently off. Both computers connect to the internet through a linksys router and are currently both connected to the internet. What I have also found on the main computer, is that I am not allowed to access my own shared documents if I navigate to them through the network by clicking 'view workgroup computers'. I can, however, access them if I navigate to them through the C drive. It would appear that I do not have access to the shared network. Any help would be great.

There is a setting called 'use simple file sharing'. It is listed under the view tab in folder options. I have not seen this before in XP Home.

Yes this setting is not present in XP Home, however it is present also in XP Pro.
