Title: floppy drive - disk not formatted

Floppy drive consistently boots with win 98 boot disk but all other disks give Disk not formatted message.  Replaced A drive and cable - same results.  Floppy disks can be read on another machine before and after trying them on this machine.  Hope someone can help.

I can boot from the emergency boot disk, change to drive c, and dir a:   works fine. I get a listing of the files on the boot diskette.  When I put another disk in, I get a "data reading error drive a" .  After aborting that task, i switch disks and again can do a dir listing of the boot disk.

fred masek....Perhaps it would help if you told us what it is your trying to do ...and what operating system are you using.

please let us know
