Ok, a little while ago my windows media player stopped playing videos. I have no clue why and have no clue how to fix it. When I play a video like open the video file, it has the sound, the problem is it doesnt have any picture. Its just a black screen. When I maximize it, it still has a black screen. It will never change.
And so I tried using Quicktime player and it doesnt show picture also. It will always play the sound but not the picture. I use a software to transfer video formats (mpg to 3gp for my mp3 player) and it usually gives me a preview if i want. Well i can view the videos there with sound also just not in windows media player and in quicktime.
Can someone please help? Ive even tried downloading new video files to try and they still dont work. I have a pentium4, 512 ram, 40gb hd, windows xp, new video card (worked with the new video card for quite sometime)

As I said in my first post: windows xp, yes it did work before, im not sure wen it started happening exactly i think about 2-3 months ago.
I have service pack 2 installed, had it installed before this started happening, and some "programs" installed that im not sure of are: MSXML 4.0 SP2 (2 different updates for it), MSXML 4 Parser, Mircrosoft .NET Framework 1.1 . If you need anymore info just ask =) Thanks everyone for helping

Red flag. You need to be legit. Perhaps Microsoft has nailed you.

Or maybe it was just a crappy cracked version and got all corrupted. Either way, GX1 is right.

Delete it reinstall it this would help in any case.
