Title: computer will not boot up
Post by: mav39 on February 16, 2007, 06:51:40 AM
Somethings go wrong and i dont know what. My computer will not boot up to the cmos setup screen let alone windows. when i switch the pc on the lights light up and then the hard drive whirls for a bit and then stops. The monitor never comes on and nothing on the screen comes on. The hard drive did make a few noises before my pc crashed. If my hard drive has gone, does thie mean i can't get to the cmos screen?

There is no telling what all is wrong, but since you had such a difficult time even opening the case:

I would suggest taking it to the shop for repairs.

The BIOS and hard drive are not related, but there may be multiple problems involved here.

But i still would like an idea of what the possible problems could be. The people at the repair shop could make anything up just to make some extra cash. Also i would like to know the possible ideas on whats wrong just to gain more knowledge on pc's.

So even if the hard drive was dead the cmos screen would still show up?

So could it be there is a problem with the motherboard or processor?

Means not plugged in....then maybe you can get to the BIOS
if so.....You have a bad hard drive most likely.
