Title: little or no connectivity (2)
Post by: hndaklr8480 on March 04, 2007, 07:29:43 AM
k people just want to let everyone know that i have fallen in love with this site and that everybody here is great.  k, now my problem is i have a brand new computer Dell duel core. 1gb ram exc.. exc..  now i have it hooked up to the internet trough a router.  I still have a hard line router don't really need or want wireless quite yet.  But anyways new computer hooks up to the internet through the router not sweat.  Older computer tell me this "your puter was unable to renew its address from the network"  This is after i try to repiar the the connection.  And i try to repair the connection because it tells me that my connection has little or no connectivity.  Now i have rebooted my computer my router and have tryed just about everything that i have found in these forum that are even close to a similar problem.  The hardware is just fine because I was using it before i got the new computer. After trying to repair connection I get this, "Windows could not finish the problem because the following action cannot be completed: Renewing you IP address
For assistance, contact the person who manages you network"  Well I have conntacted myself many times and myself just cant find the answer.  so if any one has come across this problem or have a better solution then conntacting myself, I would really appriciate the help.  Thanks again.

Reset the router by powering it down..turn it back on and wait 20 seconds.
Then from a command prompt type in ipconfig /renew and hit Enter.

Read the networking FAQ (link below).

Apologies to anyone who's noticed I'm like a stuck record today...
