Title: Monitor says "out of range" going into safe mode
Post by: edun on March 08, 2007, 04:42:58 PM
Hello,
I am having problems getting into safe mode in xp, I push f8  when booting and it goes into the menu where I select safe mode but then the monitor says "out of range", nothing happens and I have to turn the computer off. Does anyone know why this happens and how I can fix it?

Is this a new monitor? If so will it work with the old monitor?

It appears your graphics card/or on board graphics can't
handle the monitor.

What monitor are you using? What graphics card are you using?

Does this happen when going into normal mode? (If you can't get into normal mode... then you really must give more information)

I think there is the option to start using default VGA display in the bootup menu.

The "out of range " message can apply to either the monitor or graphics card. Either the display resolution or the refresh rate or both is set to high.
