I was reading the Wikipedia "Celeron" article when i came across this:
However some benefit on performance could be gained through overclocking, by operating the Coppermine-128 CPUs with a 100 MHz FSB. Overclocking a 566 MHz Celeron to 850 MHz or a 600 MHz to 900 MHz gave the best results, since these systems usually proved stable without the requirement of additional cooling or overvolting.
That interested me, and since i have a 566MHz Celeron in my desktop (an eMachines eTower 566i2), i wanted to try this. So, i opened the case and figured out what model the motherboard is (it's a TriGem Cognac), and i found a manual for it. However, the manual says this:
1-1. Selection for Processor CPU Clock
& Intel Celeron PPGA Processor is auto set the core to bus frequency ratio.
Does this mean i can't manually change the FSB speed from 66 to 100MHz? ???
Any insight would be very appreciated!

With a name like Tri-Gem Cognac i would venture to say they didn't include any overclocking utilitiy on that MBoard...what does their website say ? ?

Pros: long lasting
Cons: can't upgrade anymore
I bought this computer in 2000. It had 32mb ram, 566mhz celeron, and 7gb hard drive. It has since been upgraded to 512mb ram, 1.1ghz celeron, and 40gb hdd with a tv tuner card added as well as an ethernet adapter and a 256mb graphics PCI card. I'm pretty confident this is the max, but the computer has done excellent over the years.

seems like a useful puter, maybe save for awhile and make an upgrade OR
there's always the rummaging around schools, old businesses , junk yards <<
like I do ;)... and look for old puters, possibly could find a compatible mobo or at least some useful sticks of ram?
