This may be a supit question.
I use than windows browser an I've already tried FireFox but I didn't liked it.
Is there any other good internet browser for Windows XP SP2?
-
You could try Opera...
What was the problem with FireFox if i may ask ? ?

I love Mozilla. Try it. You'll like it.

Witch? Never heard of that browser.
-
I love Mozilla Firefox. The plug-ins and everything. It seems faster too, i dunno. Also the 'open new tabs' is so much better that opening new windows. I can barely use CH without that feature.
-
Internet explorer of course!
You tried Firefox and you didn't like it? I don't know, maybe you should cancel your cable/ADSL account and retreat into a monastery..

k-meleon is faster then firefox,

k-meleon is faster then firefox
Is that true (have you tested) or are you just saying that?
-
k-meleon is faster then firefox,
I would have to disagree with that. You can't go wrong with Firefox, tabs, great loadup speed, and constant updates keep bugs and other problems out.
Sorry, forgot that new IE has tabs.

The person meant which, not witch. Must not be english.

it has all that to , for me atleast its way faster then firefox

How fast is your connection? Cause I run at 100 kbps here at school on IE, so I am sure k-meleon can't be that much faster than Firefox.

Um...thanks.

And you can change the themes and button layout. You can assign buttons under the address bar to ho wherever you want.
I haven't tried IE 7 so I'm being a bit biased here.
I don't see the point for me upgrading because I use firefox
-
Personally, I prefer IE6. Not too sure why; probably a loyalty thing. I've never been a big fan of Firefox, but now that I've gotten more used to it, it's growing on me. And I certainly like the add-ons. I'm still not completely sold, though. I'm just stubborn, I guess.

I know, I know, this totally goes against your hundreds of "Use Firefox" posts.

I have the same problem as CBMatt I don't seem to like firefox.
I have no reason but its just something inside that doesn't like it.µ
Maybe I just need to get used to it I will give it an other chance.
But May I ask whats better in firefox than IE7.
The layout definitely NOT but that's my opinion.
(modified with beter spelling ;D)

Neither is your spelling.
IE7.0 copied a lot of things from Firefox. If it wasn't for Firefox users IE users would still be stuck with the *censored* excuse of a 6.0. They would have dragged its life span on and on (6.1, 6.2..) because no one would have had anything to compare it with. (No, a browser (Opera) with banners and advertisements won't get anyone their blood running thank you very much )
-
First time I saw IE7 at my friends house, I realised how crap it looked compare to firefox and the first thing I thought was "The layout/theme sucks and they copied the Tabs"
But these are only my opinions.
-
I find that the Layout of firefox sucks but some-one said something about editing that.
Is this possible?
Jonas ;)

Yesterday I've read in the paper that there was a new kind of virus called bots.
Those bots infects your computer when your surfing and clicking an infected web page.
Does some-one knows if this is true and if FireFox or IE7 is better protected against those viruses.
Jonas ;)

No, they're both evil. Stay off the Internet and do yourself a favour.
-
Stay off the internet ?! :o :-\
That isn't a solution for me. ;D
But I want to thanks all of you to advice me to use FireFox.
I installed it and learned to work with it and now I really think that it is the BEST internet browser you can modify allot.

And perhaps even uninstall SP2, right? Heh.

What I did noticed is that FireFox works slower than IE.
And is it possible that when you open a new tap that it automatically opens your homepage?
I searched but didn't found that possibility while I can do this in IE.
Jonas ;)
-
Google for a Firefox tweak guide, there are loads of ways to speed up Firefox and optimize it for any connection and system.
As for opening your homepage with a new tab, try this extension (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/777).
An extension is available for anything you could want from FF, if you look hard enough.
-
I didn't look for addons for opening your homepage with a new tab.
I thought it was a build in option apperantly not.
If it is normal that IE is faster than I think FireFox sould do something about it next update.
Sow I'll just wait for that ::). I hope they do.

When is IE faster?
When opening pages, when starting, or what?
-
IE loads faster and is faster in startup.
But that is my opinion.
Jonas ;)
-
OK everyone get out your stopwatches that round up to the thousandths of seconds and start now....
Browser speed discussions are an absolute waste...the only way to do a comparitive test would be on identical machines inside a vacuum chamber with an internet connection that could be monitored at the packet level.
Think about it...

Same here. I've always noticed that IE tends to load significantly faster (I mean the program itself, not pages). I suppose it doesn't matter too much, though.
-
Yeah, like when you restart your computer or when you turn it on. When you run Firefox for the first time it takes quite a while to start. But then after that when you try to open it's fine.

Must admit that I just wanted to post the same question ( similar one ) as this one. But I followed the recommendations of the forum administrators and found this question which will work for my needs.
I have a Gateway laptop with an AMD Athlon, a gig of ram and windows XP. It seems to take forever to get to the desktop ( this is not the problem but I thought I would throw it in for any side comments ) On that laptop I have IE 5.x as well as Opera.
I can't say that I have noticed a speed difference between the two browsers but I have noticed that less cookie are collected with Opera than IE 5
I also have an HP laptop with an Intel Centrino Duo which loads the desktop a lot faster than the Gateway. I basically have the same items in the systray. As an experiement I was thinking of trying Foxfire as my second browser and noticed that the download mentions Google; I'm guessing it means Foxfire with a Google menu bar? Is there a Google free version that I can download and what version is it?
BTW this HP alerts me everyday that there are updates available for my computer and when checking closer it wants to update IE. The version that is currently in place is 6.0.2900. Is 7 any better than 6?
-
If you download firefox now, it comes with the Google Toolbar.
To get rid of the toolbar, do the following:
Open Firefox
click on Tools at the top
click Add-ons
click the Google Toolbar and choose Uninstall.
Simple

im not sure this would belong in this section, as it is completely subjective.

I also noticed that IE seems to load faster than firefox. I also did not like firefox when I tried it. But maybe it's just me ;).
-
If you have too many add-ons, firefox will start slower but for me, web browsing is much easier.

So remove some, and/or follow one of the many Firefox tweak guides.

So you felt the need to resurrect this topic?
Can we leave the topic alone please?
It's finished, let it rest in peace.

Just out of curiosity, where does one find the Witch internet browser. I think I've ever tried it.

If my posts are in the wrong place it's perfectly fine if someone with the power to do so; moves them.
