Title: Nvidia unveils $830 GeForce 8800 Ultra graphics card
Post by: Computer Hope Admin on May 02, 2007, 12:17:55 PM
The new GeForce 8800 Ultra is positioned above the already fast and expensive  8800 GTX and is scheduled to become available worldwide on May 15th or around the time AMD is expected to unleash its 8800 fighter R600. Nvidia promises that the new Ultra version will run about 10 to 15% faster than its 8800 GTX.

At that price I think I can wait. ;) But still good article.

::)
Anyway couldn't agree more, what a waste. Its like when i used to play CS:CZ there was loads of people boasting that they bought one of these Diamond Razorback things for like 80 odd quid. There i was with my £5 USB mouse from Comet. Pretty sad if you ask me :(

Bah, just OC an 8800GTX and get liquid cooling for the cash you save.
Can't believe the 6800 Ultra 512Mb retailed for $1k, that's ridiculous.
Chris, there really is a major difference between the el cheapo mice and the real deal, believe me.
Fr the casual gamer or normal user, it's a waste.
For a serious user who does Photoshop or similar, or serious gamers, it's more than worth it.

Really?! Ill take your word for it.
I thought it was just the Developers taking advantage of the gamers by beefing it up to make them think they 'need' the mouse.

Hmm, well that's what I've heard from many people including our very own Raptor.
I'll tell you what I think when my G5 and Icepad arrive tomorrow.
I can tell you from experience that there is a world of difference between high and low quality mice anyway, but this will be my first proper "gaming" mouse and pad setup.

One step closer to manhood, Calum.

 ;D

By the way, you can buy all the fancy mice and mice pad in the world, but nothing beats a good configuration for any game. And mouse. Heh. Guess we'll work on that next.  ;)

The big thing about expensive mice is that they're reliable. NOTHING is worse than being about to win, when all of a sudden your mouse stops responding because the Wireless connection got blocked, or the trackball has gunk in it, or the thing decides to suddenly be sensitive and wreak havoc...

Nothing's worse in the gaming world, anyway... ::)

I'l bear that in mind honvetops, thanks.
Never considered that they might not work well with each other, as they were offered as a bundle.

As in a decent PC?
I wish . . .

The GPU is all that matters...

In that case, this 8800 Ultra is perfect!
Let's all buy four and use Quad SLI, right now!
Otherwise we'll never run Vista, and that's the only thing that matters!
Wait, no it's not . . .
