Title: Virtual PC
Post by: WireGuy1950 on May 02, 2007, 02:10:47 PM
Does anyone have suggestions on how I could optimize the memory in my virtual PC, I seem to have insufficient memory available to run my DOS program.

Specs: Host System-Win 2k, SP4, 256k memory
Virtual PC: DOS 6.22, set to 128k memory (max I can get)

Thanks

Sure

Open Virtual PC

Select the PC you want to configure

and then click "Settings"

The memory configuration is there.
If you cant adjust it, make sure the virtual PC is not running and that its not in a saved state.
If it sill doesnt work, then its probably just that your computer doesnt meet requirements.

256k memory is tiny! 256M would be better...

Oh hi, I have 192 mb of system ram and I can can only use a maximum of 50 mb ram for a virtual pc. I am using a supposively unsupported OS (XP Home Editition), could that have anything to do with it?

That's on the low end of RAM for XP much less with Virtual PC installed on top of things.

How much RAM will that board take ? ?

Windows XP Home can operate Virtual PC (Microsoft) fine
But what is recommended is:
Windows XP Professional
or Windows 2000 Professional

Nevertheless, it should not cause problems.
