Title: Freezing in games..
Post by: mozzer11 on May 20, 2007, 02:37:04 PM
Hi
I'm hoping you can help me.  8)
I have a problem where in some games I play it freezes for around 10 seconds then the sound loops, after a while it stops and I can play properly again. It does this usually once or twice. Afterwards the game seems to run fine. It's annoying to say the least, especially in online games.
Also when it happens there isn't any hard drive loading activity so I don't think it's that. Any ideas? Thanks!

I have an idea.

If you actually post some information about your hardware, operating system and which game(s) you might get some worthwhile suggestions.

All we know for sure is that you have a computer. See below. ;)

Aha, yes of course.
Specs:
AthlonX2 3800
Galaxy 7600GT
Tagan 480w PSU
Gigabyte GA-M55plus-S3G Mobo
WD Caviar 80gb SATA-2 HD
Windows XP Home

So far it's happened in Oblivion, Dawn of War and Flatout 2.

I have noticed another weird thing when I play flatout 2 online. When it does the freezing thing, the game i'm in ends leaving only me in the game. ???

Update your video card drivers.
1. Download new drivers but do not install them.
2. Uninstall old drivers.
3. Reboot.
4. Install new drivers.
5. Reboot.

If that doesn't help, check the case for dust and clean it if necessary, observing standard precautions.

What happened before this started and what protection do you have?

Thanks alot Calum, that seemed to to do the trick. I did what you said and also ran driver cleaner. I must have had the wrong driver installed or something. Cheers 8)

Nice, glad you got it sorted and thanks for posting back.
Seems it was a driver issue, happens occasionally to everyone.
Post back if you have any more issues.
