Title: Windows Vista Movies On Windows XP
Post by: duval.67 on May 25, 2007, 06:11:46 PM
Hey everyone.

I've created a movie for school using Windows Movie Maker on Windows Vista, at home. At my fathers house, I'm there now, we have Windows XP, so do the computers at school. When I try to view the video I have created on Windows Movie Maker on XP, it says the video was made with an incompatible version of Windows Movie Maker. Is there anyway that I can view and edit the video on Windows XP? My friend still needs to do some digital editing as well, and he has Windows XP. All help is appreciated.

Did you try this:

In movie maker, click File --> Save Movie File --> Next --> Next --> and Next again.
This saves the movie/video as a format the can be played with any media player.

All right, I'll try that when I'm back at my moms.

When I tried to save it, there was no such option. I couldn't save it as anything other than the default format.

I've attatched a screenshot of the Windows Movie Maker we have here at school.
Some features should be the same with Vista's Movie Maker so it should look familiar.

Check the picture out and post back to see if it helps.

I'll have to try tomorrow night, I don't have the flash drive with me. But I think that is the same as the publish movie option in vista, because I don't see save movie anywhere. If I do that will I still be able to edit it?

To edit the file after being saved, you have to import it on Windows Movie Maker.
If you used several clips and put them together for the video, they will all be joined to one large clip.
