Title: safe mode
Post by: teewillis on May 30, 2007, 10:08:49 AM
I can't get my computer out of safe mode...every time I restart it the screen goes to black with 'safe mode' in all 4 corners...it does not let me past this screen to try and fix the problem...any suggestions?

I am running 2000 and I was trying to access safe mode so that I could download my files and then restore my computer based upon spyware infection that was not cleared by my norton antivirus program
I got to the safe mode by selecting F8 as the computer was starting...now it automatically goes to that screen every time I reboot

ok you can get in normal mode though right so look at my signature and get thoses programs that you dont have and run them in normal mode first. to clear any infections out..

do you remember the name of the infection??

If it says safe mode in all 4 corners you are now in safe mode...

What are you attempting to do once there ? ?

You mention DLoading some files to fix your machine...what DLoads ? ?

Do you have a Win2K CD ? ?

the hour glass remains there and it doesn't allow me to do anything while in safe mode
i was attempting to download my pictures and word files then clean my machine and start over from scratch since it is apparent my norton antivirus didn't catch the spyware
