Hey guy's
I have had this problem for some while and I thought why not ask someone.
I have no information about it, I get no error reports, no indications or when it will happen and I have been unable to find a common factor each time.
Basically my computer tends to fully restart.
any ideas?
I have ran countless virus scans and spyware and eradicated any of them problems and it still occurs.
Any help would be gratefull
Thanks
:o

Basically my computer tends to fully restart. what do you mean <<<< :)
does it restart all the time without your permission ..
Tony :)
-
It just turns off instantly i could be in the middle of doing ANYTHING and it turns off. Then restarts just back to the desktop.
If that helps

Could be bad memory... have you tried running a memory test?
-
hmmm ok , well lets try a few basics .... go into control panel and click power options and see if anything looks wrong , it could be some settings have been set to restart you , i don't want to say anything else until you checked this out ..... you could be overheating....

going on what beanhead said theres plenty of individual tests we can do to see if it is some of your hardware is faulty run this test..... www.memtest.org if you can print screen and link us...with the information you get from the test
-
No nothing seems out of place, no restart settings, shut downs or nothin it just fine :)
-
some extra information: . "Win XP has a default setting to restart at just about any error. It makes things difficult to analyze when it blows through and restarts the computer. Settings / Control Panel / System / Advanced / Startup and Recovery / Settings. Make sure the box is UNCHECKED where it says "Automatically Restart" under System Failure."
-
yeah that was set to restart, thanking you
next time anything happens ill be straight back if i dont know what too do
Thanks a lot :)
greatly appreciated

I can update his bios if i get his motherboard make and model :D , i think theres a genuine error in his hardware , i think your c: drive has stop responding , which is never good , i feel you should try and use it in another computer , or , you could re-format but thats always a last resort balls in your court buddy.... :)

guys get back on topics
Tony :)
well! i think we should get back on topic, but there's only one, tony. notice you made the word topic a plural :P
-
changing my whole sentence for you reaper !!
-
good boy :D
so is the problem that was the topic solved?
-
nope hasn't been solved yet ..... we need the make of his mobo to get him the latest drivers but he doesn't know the model or make ....... doesnt want to attempt a re-format which is understandable.... just need some more information to help this chap.
Tony :)
-
i see... this chap could open his case and look around the ram slots/cpu slots etc. for the ''tag'' or the printing with the mobo specs...
-
Yh he could do.......
-
its not something i particularly wish to do, and last time i tried i was unable too
its a Dell computer ha ha
-
lol well all you really need to do is take off the side part of the case, and look at the motherboard. move whatever cables out of the way aswell. you don't need to connect/disconnect anything either. everything should be fine if you don't touch anything that looks like it shouldn't be touched ;)
-

Ok going on what reaper just said .......... im gonna say this once and once only , you can touch anything you want in side your computer addecpt THE MOTHERBOARD AND ITS COMPONENTS BE SURE YOU ARE GROUNDED correctly do not do this on any type of fabric do it on the floor boards or garden well garden is a good idea if its not raining :D Trust me noting will go wrong just write down the large print on the motherboard there well be a name of your board and a number maybe even a serial number doesnt matter just see what you can get.......
-
uhh.... that's a good idea, but write down everything including a serial number if it's there, just make sure you don't post the serial number. not really a great idea. the rest though, of course.
the serial number should be away from the other information.
